The fortress was built at the beginning of the 14th century to protect trade routes from Germany to Bohemia, and it is first mentioned in the Majestas Carolina code of laws. After a two-month siege, the castle was conquered in 1418 by Nicholas the Poor of Lobkowicz, marking the beginning of its most famous era. Under Bohuslav Hasištejnský, the residence was transformed into a center of learning with a vast library. Today, in the well-maintained grounds, you can explore extensive cellars, the remains of a chapel, and a smaller tower. The main cylindrical tower offers far-reaching views of the surrounding Ore Mountains landscape.
