Kamenice nad Lipou Chateau originated from the reconstruction of an original castle from the 13th century. Between 1580 and 1583, it was rebuilt in the Renaissance style with an arcaded courtyard and a garden. It acquired its current late Classicist appearance in the first half of the 19th century. Surrounding the chateau is an extensive English park, where a memorial lime tree, 700 to 800 years old, grows, after which the town was named. Since 1998, the chateau has been managed by the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, which, after extensive reconstruction, opened several exhibitions to the public here. Visitors can admire permanent exhibitions of historical toys, 19th and 20th-century furniture, and artistic blacksmithing with displays of grilles, keys, and locks. The tour also includes a Renaissance hall and a Gothic hall in the cellar. The chateau cafe offers pleasant seating and refreshments.
