The fortress was founded after 1262 by Beneš of Choustník as an architecturally unique double castle, whose two separate cores were occupied by different owners. From 1322, the complex protected the Rosenberg estate, but around 1614 it was abandoned and gradually fell into ruin. Today, the site is located on a dominant hill at an altitude of 660 meters above sea level, right in the middle of a nature reserve that also protects the surrounding rock formations. The most prominent highlight of the tour is the 18-meter-high southern square tower, which now serves as a lookout tower. In good weather, you can see not only the nearby countryside but also the ridges of the Bohemian Forest, Brdy, and the Novohradské Mountains.
