This fairy-tale residence with its characteristic bright red facade rises from a rocky island in the middle of a pond. The Renaissance water castle is located in South Bohemia, more precisely in the northern part of the Jindřichův Hradec region, near the village of the same name, which today falls under the municipality of Pluhův Žďár. The entire local complex, which includes not only the building itself but also a park, a pond, and several farm buildings, was declared a national cultural monument in 2001. The monument is owned by the state and, under the administration of the National Heritage Institute, is regularly open to the public. Thanks to its unique appearance, this place has become a sought-after destination for day-trippers and filmmakers alike, who have shot a number of famous Czech fairy tales here.
