In the heart of Duchcov, on the western side of Republic Square, stands an imposing chateau complex, its roots reaching back to an original Gothic fortress. This early form was replaced by a Renaissance reconstruction under the Lobkowitz family, who acquired the fortress in the 16th century. However, the current Baroque beauty of the chateau is primarily the work of the Wallenstein family, who owned it until the beginning of the 20th century and imprinted it with its characteristic appearance. Take a stroll through the grounds, where, in addition to the chateau itself, you will also find the historic Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, and let yourself be carried away by the atmosphere of bygone eras. After a period when it served various institutions, the chateau was sensitively adapted for cultural purposes and, as a national cultural monument, is now fully accessible to the public.
