Rotemberk likely originated in the 14th century after the older, nearby Vražba Castle declined, gradually taking over its residential and administrative role. The first documented owner in 1371 was Ješek of Neznášov, and the castle remained in the hands of his descendants until 1457. In 1494, Bavor of Hustířany acquired it, but by 1542, the land records already listed it as deserted. To this day, fortifications on the south and east sides, hints of a cellar space, a well, and probably the remains of a round tower have been preserved; it is a so-called 'closed castle,' where the outer walls once supported collapsed upper floors. The ruins lie north of the village of Habřina, and since 1964, it has been protected as a cultural monument along with Vražba Castle. A marked tourist path leads to the site from Smiřice to Velichovky, so anyone can easily take a detour here for a walk through history.
