On Košťálov Hill, 494 meters above sea level, in the western part of the Bohemian Central Highlands, stands the impressive ruin of Košťálov Castle. This medieval donjon-type fortress, originating from the fourteenth century, is inextricably linked with the Kaplířové ze Sulevic family. Although today only remnants of its mighty walls remain, the place still retains its historical atmosphere and offers a unique glimpse into the past. Since 1964, Košťálov has been protected as a cultural monument, which underscores its importance for the region. The ascent to the summit is rewarded not only with a tour of the ruins, but also with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape of the Bohemian Central Highlands.
