The striking silhouette of a medieval ruin rises on a dominant hill near Blíževedly in the Ralsko Uplands. The remains of this once solid fortress are now protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The earliest direct written records of the castle's existence date from the fifteenth century. In 1438, its owner became Vilém of Ilburk, who had the entire complex generously rebuilt. After 1538, however, the more comfortable Stvolínky fortress became the main seat of the lords, and the abandoned Ronov gradually turned into a ruin. Today, visitors are drawn here by the preserved sections of the outer walls and the far-reaching views of the surrounding Česká Lípa region.
