The picturesque valley of the Divoká Orlice River hides a striking landmark on its wooded promontory in the form of a medieval seat. This castle complex rises above the village of Litice nad Orlicí, which lies approximately seven kilometers west of Žamberk. A significant mark was left here by King George of Poděbrady, who had the fortress generously rebuilt in the fifteenth century. For its extraordinary historical value, this ruin has enjoyed the status of a protected cultural monument since 1964. At present, the entire property is owned by the Czech Republic, and its administration is provided by the National Heritage Institute. The castle, open to the public, attracts visitors especially with its preserved palace and the lookout tower with views over the surrounding countryside.
