Once, in the picturesque landscape of the Karlovy Vary Region, near the town of Aš, stood a significant residence known as Smrčina Chateau, or Sorg in German. This historic building was located in the Cheb District, in a settlement three kilometers north of Aš, between the villages of Podhradí and Krásná. For centuries, it served as the center of the eponymous settlement, a witness to many events and transformations of the region. Unfortunately, fate was not kind to this architectural gem, and in 1963, the chateau was definitively demolished. Today, its original walls are no longer found on its site, but its memory persists in local history and old records. Smrčina thus remains an important reminder of lost heritage and the constant changes in our landscape.
