This Baroque jewel is located on the picturesque southern edge of the village of Lány, near Kladno, in the heart of the Central Bohemian Region. It is set in a beautiful landscape on the northern edge of the extensive Křivoklát forests, which form a protected landscape area. The chateau includes a vast English park with the Bahňák pond, an impressive palm greenhouse, and the adjacent Lány Game Preserve, creating a unique atmosphere of tranquility and natural beauty. Since 1921, it has served as the official summer residence of the presidents of Czechoslovakia and subsequently the Czech Republic, which gives it significant historical and statesmanlike importance. It was here that the important Lány Agreement was signed in the past, confirming friendly relations between Czechoslovakia and Austria. The entire complex, including the chateau church and park, is carefully protected as a valuable cultural monument.
