The chateau began to be built from 1528 by Saxon knights of the Bünau family, who at that time were among the leading nobles in the Ústí region. The so-called Old Chateau was built between 1597 and 1603 in the Saxon Renaissance style, while the New Chateau was completed only in 1628 as a regular four-winged building around a square courtyard with cylindrical corner towers. Between 1714 and 1724, Johann Ludwig Richard Cavriani rebuilt the complex in Baroque style, adding, among other things, an entire Baroque floor to the New Chateau. After the Second World War, the chateau was nationalized, and for many decades, until 2002, it housed a railway computing center. Extensive renovation between 2009 and 2011 restored the complex to a dignified appearance, and today it houses the Ústí nad Labem branch of the National Heritage Institute. The complex also includes the Church of Saint Florian, originally a Renaissance chapel with an exceptional altar decorated with alabaster reliefs.
