Děčín Chateau, originally a castle from the 13th century, stands majestically on a rocky promontory above the confluence of the Elbe and Ploučnice rivers. Over the centuries, it underwent extensive reconstructions, transforming from a Gothic castle into a Renaissance chateau and subsequently acquiring its Baroque and Classicist appearance thanks to the Thun-Hohenstein family. It was an important center of culture and politics, hosting personalities such as Frédéric Chopin. Visitors can explore several tour routes of the chateau interiors, showcasing private apartments and social rooms with original furnishings. The complex also includes a terraced Rose Garden with a Sala Terrena and a Baroque riding hall. The chateau offers breathtaking views of the city of Děčín and the Elbe valley.
