You will find this historical landmark of the Moravian-Silesian metropolis at the confluence of the Lučina and Ostravice rivers in the municipal district of Slezská Ostrava. The fortress was built in the thirteenth century and served as one of the prominent ducal castles of Silesian rulers until 1508. Over the centuries, the building underwent many transformations, with its modern history significantly affected by undermining due to coal mining. Today, this reconstructed complex is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. It offers visitors interesting exhibitions in the castle palace, a mysterious cellar with aquariums, and a lookout tower with a view of the city. In addition, popular cultural events, concerts, and fairs are held here year-round.
