Dominating the southwestern edge of historical Tábor is a massive round tower, which represents the best-preserved part of the former medieval castle. This residence, also known as Hradiště, rose on a strategic rocky promontory and in later centuries underwent a significant transformation into a brewery. Today, this unique monument attracts visitors mainly with the opportunity to climb to the top of the preserved battery tower, which offers views of the town and the Lužnice River valley. The entire complex of the former castle, connected to the brewery, enjoys heritage protection. The exceptional value of the entire complex is also confirmed by the fact that in 1962, together with the neighboring Bechyně Gate, it was declared a national cultural monument.
