This impressive Gothic-Romanesque fortress, towering on a granite massif, got its name from the distinct bend of the Ohře River, which closely surrounds it. When viewed from afar, this historic seat, known in German as Elbogen, dominates the landscape on the border of the Sokolov region and the Slavkov Forest Protected Landscape Area. Today, the entire complex is protected as an important cultural monument and attracts visitors with its rich history, associated among other things with Emperor Charles IV, who was imprisoned here as a child. During the tour, you can descend into the authentic cellar dungeons with an exhibition on judicial torture or admire an extensive collection of historical porcelain. Furthermore, the gallery of the massive castle tower offers a captivating view of the picturesque town below the castle and the surrounding deep forests.
