The history of this originally wooden residence dates back to the 11th century. In the first third of the 13th century, it was replaced by a stone fortress, from which the western sharp-edged tower, housing a prison, dungeon, and torture chamber, has been preserved. The current appearance was given to the complex by an extensive Neo-Gothic reconstruction between 1811 and 1863, which enriched the palace interiors with detailed illusionistic paintings. The armory, featuring medieval weapons and 17th-century gunsmith craftsmanship, also attracts attention. A completely unique curiosity is the local zoological exhibition, dominated by fifty taxidermied dogs.
