The original 13th-century Gothic castle was transformed into a grand Baroque residence after a devastating Swedish raid, and later hosted the Constitutional Imperial Diet from 1848 to 1849. Inside, you will find the Assembly Hall, the largest Rococo space in the country, featuring a 400-square-meter ceiling fresco and twenty-two crystal chandeliers. The chateau's art gallery guards Titian's masterpiece 'Apollo and Marsyas', while the historic library houses 88,000 volumes and an extensive archive of Baroque music. After climbing the 206 steps of the chateau tower, you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the town, the Chřiby hills, and the Jeseníky Mountains. Together with the Castle Garden and the Flower Garden, the chateau forms a complex that has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1998.
