This magnificent aristocratic complex in the Mladá Boleslav district gained its present Baroque form thanks to an extensive reconstruction at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. However, the history of the seat reaches deeper into the past, when Václav Budovec of Budov had the original Renaissance chateau built here. After the confiscations following the Battle of White Mountain, the Waldstein family took over the estate, and it remained in their possession from the 17th century until 1945. Today, this artistically invaluable complex is owned by the state and is open to the public. Its administration and preservation are managed by the National Heritage Institute.
