On a promontory extending from the southwestern slope of Beranec Hill above the valley of the Červený potok stream, there are the remains of a medieval settlement, which has been protected as a cultural monument since 1965. This early Gothic structure was built as early as the thirteenth century and today is located within the Brdy Protected Landscape Area in the Beroun district, specifically in the cadastral area of the village of Chaloupky. Historical sources state that the castle was besieged in 1346 and definitively fell into ruin after the end of the Thirty Years' War. To this day, extensive sections of the fortification walls, a dominant round tower called a bergfried, and the remains of two palace buildings have been preserved. A point of interest in the immediate vicinity is the extensive stone sea that spreads below the castle grounds towards the watercourse. However, due to the poor structural condition and the threat of collapsing masonry, the interior of the monument is currently closed to the public.
